Step 1

STEP 1:

Purchasing an EquiMount Phantom is your first step to a productive breeding program. EquiMount is available in 5 sizes, Click Here to look them over, or order through HorsemansMall.com or call ERS 352-465-8489.
Step 2

STEP 2:

EquiMounts can be placed indoors or out. Our cover and padding are entirely weather and season proof. Do make certain there is ample room for safety of the stallion, handler, and collector.
Step 3

STEP 3:

Prepare your stallion for breeding by cleaning him prior to collection. Using clean warm water, start with the shaft of his penis, working down to the head, with numerous clean pieces of wet sheet cotton. Finish by gently removing the "bean" from the opening. Towel dry. I recommend Viva papertowels for their lack of lint, strength, softness, and absorbtion.
Step 7

STEP 4:

Introduce stallion to the EquiMount. Mares may be placed at the off side or in stocks. When initially training to the phantom, I find that standing the mare at the off side, parallel to the mount is best for stimulation and jump response. Many stallions soon need no mare at all to collect. They respond well to the mount with the aid of mare urine or a muck bucket with mare manure.
Step 4

STEP 5:

It is all right for the stallion to mount without an erection, particularly when just learning the mount. Some prefer to "test" the stability and feel. It is paramount to have a mount that is secure and does not move or make excessive noise.
Step 5

STEP 6:

Many stallions will rub their head and neck on the mount, as they would a mare. This is also normal and is a positive sign when training a stallion.
Step 5

STEP 7:

Complete ejaculation occurs when the stallion stands square behind the mount, as he would on a mare. Climbing forward or to the side is a bad habit and not productive to a complete ejaculate. Note* stallions can ejaculate seminal fluid while withholding sperm, whether on purpose or for lack of correct physical stimulation. Partial or incomplete ejaculations bring on a problem referred to as "accumulators."
Step 8

STEP 8:

Upon ejaculation, the stallions forelegs must go tense and straighten. Barrel, too wide, or unsymetric shaped mounts, predispose stallions to becoming accumulators.
Step 9

STEP 9:

Lower the AV as ejaculation occurs. Note the stallion's relaxation, balance and straight foreleg at ejaculation.
Step 10 STEP 10:
